Ibrahim Chatta Emerges Highest-Paid Nollywood Actor, Demands ₦5 Million Per Role – Otolo
Renowned Nollywood star Ibrahim Chatta is currently the talk of the town after reports about his impressive earnings surfaced online.
The revelation came from veteran actor Mustapha Bakare Otolo, who shared the details during a trending interview circulating on social media.
In the interview, Otolo discussed the challenges faced by veteran actors in producing cinema-standard movies, citing the growing pay gap within the industry.
According to him, while many seasoned actors earn between ₦250,000 and ₦300,000 per movie, Ibrahim Chatta now commands a staggering ₦5 million per appearance — making him the highest-paid actor in Nollywood at the moment.
“If Ibrahim Chatta appears on a movie set, he has been paid ₦5 million. That’s his current rate. He is the highest-paid actor right now,” Otolo said. “He can feature in up to 20 productions in a month. I even brought him to my recent movie, Jigi, shot in Ogbomoso.”
Otolo further emphasized that the disparity in earnings makes it increasingly difficult for veteran actors like himself to compete or fund large-scale cinema projects.
He concluded, “You can’t compare him and other young actors to some of us veterans who only appear in one or two movies a month for about ₦250,000 to ₦300,000. That’s why producing cinema movies has become such a challenge for us.”
