DP dares Wike’s faction, intensifies preparation for Ibadan convention
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has intensified preparations for its 2025 National Elective Convention, scheduled for November 15 and 16 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a statement shared on its official X handle on Thursday, the party described the convention — themed #Ibadan2025 — as a defining moment in its ongoing journey of internal renewal and strategic readiness for the 2027 general elections.
According to the PDP, the convention will bring together over 3,000 delegates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, alongside party leaders, stakeholders, and international observers, including members of the diplomatic corps.
The event will feature the election of new national officers, including a National Chairman, and reaffirm the party’s dedication to unity, discipline, and democratic principles.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who is hosting the convention, has reportedly led several venue inspections and logistical reviews to ensure a seamless and successful event.
The Lekan Salami Stadium is currently being transformed into what the party described as “a hub for democratic renewal”, with final touches underway on seating arrangements, stage setup, lighting, and audio-visual systems.
Supervising these efforts is Oyo State Deputy Governor Barr. Bayo Lawal, who chairs the Venue Sub-Committee of the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC).
The statement added:
“Final preparations are in full swing, with the stage and facilities at the Lekan Salami Stadium nearing completion as the PDP gears up for its landmark #Ibadan2025 National Elective Convention.”
